About Coolum Surf Club Situated right on the beach with sweeping ocean views, Coolum Surf Club is home to an award-winning restaurant and popular function spaces catering to weddings, corporate events, and celebrations. Our diverse menu features fresh seafood, char‑grilled favourites, gourmet pizzas, vegan and gluten‑free options, and a seasonal food offering. By joining our team, you’ll also be supporting our surf lifesaving community, with all proceeds assisting beach safety operations. About the Role As a 2nd Year Apprentice Chef , you will work closely with our experienced chefs to further develop your culinary knowledge and gain hands‑on experience across all kitchen sections. You will play a key role in day‑to‑day service as well as preparation for large‑scale events, weddings, and private functions. This role is suited to an apprentice who is ready to step up, take responsibility, and build confidence in a busy, supportive kitchen. Key Responsibilities Assist with daily food preparation across multiple kitchen sections Execute menu items during lunch and dinner service to a high standard Support catering for events, weddings, and corporate functions Maintain kitchen cleanliness, organisation, and equipment care Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards at all times Assist with stock rotation, receiving deliveries, and inventory control Continue building skills in knife work, food prep, cooking methods, and presentation Contribute to menu development and recipe testing where appropriate Work collaboratively as part of a positive and professional kitchen team Work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and event days Skills & Qualities We’re Looking For Passion for cooking and a strong desire to advance your skills Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume kitchen Reliable, enthusiastic, and willing to learn Good communication skills and the ability to take direction Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene and safe work practices Experience with seafood, grill, or pizza sections Confident knife skills and preparation techniques Creativity and interest in contributing ideas for menu items Previous experience in functions or events is a bonus What We Offer Guidance and mentoring from highly skilled senior chefs Exposure to restaurant, café, and premium event catering A fun, supportive, and professional kitchen culture Training opportunities and clear pathways for future career progression Competitive apprentice wages Work in a stunning beachfront location with a passionate hospitality team Flexible roster including weekends and event shifts How to Apply If your a driven 2nd Year Apprentice Chef ready to grow your skills in an exciting coastal venue, we’d love to hear from you #J-18808-Ljbffr
