An entry requirement for employment with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) is that you must be an Australian citizen. Your role:

As an Electronic Warfare Operator, you’ll be trained to intercept and disrupt enemy communications and determine their threat level. You’ll be part of an advanced close-knit team, the Signallers, who are dedicated to providing vital communications, information systems and electronic warfare support to the Army and wider Defence Force.

To kick off your career, following your initial training, you’ll be employed in a tactical unit, supporting infantry and armoured personnel as they train on exercises around the country. Here you’ll have the opportunity to work in a small team, receiving on-the-job mentoring and support. From there, you could specialise in:

Signals Analysis - analyse data and pass critical information to your commander

Electronic Attack - deny, disrupt and deceive enemy communications

Tactical Cyber Warfare - understand how networks, ICT and operating systems interact with each other in cyberspace

Location:

Following your initial military training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia. The majority of these positions are located in QLD and the ACT.

Salary:

In the Army you'll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $54,815 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training.

On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $81,452 per annum plus generous super.

For this role, you must be an Australian citizen, over 17 at the time of enlistment, and have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics.
