As Compliance Officer, you will oversee compliance for New South Wales' transport operation. This includes ensuring adherence to transport laws, safety standards, and internal policies, addressing compliance gaps, maintaining records, organising training, and working with stakeholders. What You’ll Be Doing Ensure all fleet and transport operations comply with NHVL, HVNL, Road Transport Laws, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations. Manage heavy vehicle accreditations, permits, maintenance schedules, and compliance documentation. Investigate and resolve compliance breaches, incidents, and non-conformance issues. Maintain system accuracy and support compliance‑related data entry and reporting. Develop, review, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and training materials. Oversee onboarding and ongoing compliance for employees and subcontractors. Coordinate and deliver internal and external compliance audits. Conduct insurance, registration, licence, and pre‑start check audits. Analyse fleet performance data to support continuous improvement in safety and compliance. What We’re Looking For Minimum 5 years’ experience in transport compliance, auditing, or risk management. In‑depth knowledge of Australian transport compliance and safety regulations (NHVR, HVNL, Chain of Responsibility, Mass Management, Load Restraint, Maintenance Management). Familiarity with transport management systems (e.g., Containerchain, Gearbox, TN360, Freight 2020). High attention to detail, integrity, and objectivity. Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret large datasets. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage drivers, managers, and senior leaders.
