Wood Machinist

This full-time position is responsible to set up and operate Moulders and Sawing machines for producing our Tasmanian Oak timber products such as lining boards, end matched flooring, DAR products and many other timber profiles items that may be required. The position is located at Glenorchy site working a single day shift Monday - Friday. This is a full-time position working on a 5-day, 8 hours per day shift with overtime available. Responsibilities Setting knives, and Operating moulder and sawing machines; Check timber specification and tolerances upon set up and hourly thereafter, and fill in quality check sheets; Adjust cut patterns to minimise waste and maintain quality; Maintain a high level of production, adhering to targets; Communicate with and provide guidance to machine operators during shift changes; Trouble shooting and performing basic machine maintenance; Ensure you follow the relevant operational procedures and safety guidelines for the equipment you are setting up, including changing tools and Running/Operating of the machines. Qualifications Trade qualification: Certificate III in Wood Machining or other similar training; Previous experience with wood working machinery; Experience undertaking machine maintenance, adjustments and minor repairs; Strong organisation skills and ability to work autonomously; Strong attention to detail; Have good communication skills; Be safety conscious, follow safety procedures and be mindful of workplace hazards for yourself and others; Be physically fit to manually handle raw materials; Be reliable and able to work rotating shifts; High Risk Licence – LF advantageous; Willing to undergo a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing.
