Postdoctoral Fellow in Parasitology University of Melbourne - Melbourne Veterinary School, Faculty of Science Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Role Part‑time (0.6 FTE) – Fixed Term for 3 years. Salary A$87,266.00 / yr – A$118,416.00 / yr (pro‑rata for part‑time) plus 17 % superannuation. Responsibilities Lead an industry‑funded project investigating key infectious abortions in Victorian sheep, developing novel molecular diagnostics. Conduct field investigations: plan and execute sampling strategies across Victorian farms; collect and analyse biological samples. Engage with industry stakeholders: collaborate with sheep producers, veterinarians and industry bodies to identify risk factors and develop disease‑management strategies. Disseminate findings: prepare peer‑reviewed publications, present at conferences, and contribute to industry reports. Spearhead innovative veterinary research, collaborate with industry leaders, and enhance sheep health. Apply cutting‑edge research to improve sheep reproductive health and industry practices. Qualifications Qualified veterinarian with a PhD in Veterinary Science (or closely related field). Strong research skills and a passion for improving animal health and welfare through innovative diagnostics and epidemiology. Experience in molecular diagnostics, especially qPCR assay development and validation. Strong epidemiological investigation and data‑analysis skills. Excellent communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders. Track record of publishing in peer‑reviewed journals and presenting at conferences.
