Position Education Assistant – Special Needs Location: Mandurah Work Type: Fixed Term - Full Time, Fixed Term - Part Time, Permanent - Full Time, Permanent - Part Time Salary: Level 2 / 3, $ - $ per hour (EA (Gov) GA 2025) The Role As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will be deployed to support students at educational risk across a range of programmes and delivery models at John Tonkin College. You will work under teacher direction to assist in the delivery of planned education programmes and promote a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities Assist teachers with the delivery of education programmes to help students reach their full potential in academic, social, emotional, and physical domains. Operate computers and digital technologies as required. Provide feedback on education and therapy programmes and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education. Support students’ growth, both academically and socially, within the classroom setting. Qualifications High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff to meet student needs. Knowledge and experience working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties. Eligibility Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start. Consent to a screening clearance and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start. Ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational, occupational and/or physiotherapy programmes. Knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
