Engineering Lead

Role Overview RSGx is a trusted provider of engineering, construction and maintenance services across the energy, utilities and mining sectors. The Engineering Lead will mentor and develop RSGx's engineering team across a portfolio of projects, providing technical oversight, direction and mentorship. The role requires a balance of leadership, design and construction knowledge and commercial awareness to ensure project engineering deliverables are achieved safely, on time and within scope. You will act as the technical reviewer for engineering, construction, commissioning and testing within RSGx West, supporting the business through project execution, tendering and continuous improvement initiatives. This unique role offers great opportunities for growth and you will be well supported in your journey Leadership & Team Management Mentor and develop a team of project engineers across multiple projects. Manage team workload and resource allocation in line with project priorities and schedules. Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability and collaboration within the engineering team. Be the point of call for escalated engineering problems. Technical & Project Delivery Provide technical oversight across HV and electrical design and construction activities. Review and approve engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with client requirements, Australian standards and RSGx procedures. Support the development of engineering solutions for substation, transmission and distribution projects, including greenfield and brownfield scopes. Collaborate with Project Managers, Construction and Commissioning teams to ensure constructability, safety and quality outcomes. Lead technical problem‑solving and support commissioning and energisation planning as required. Tendering & Business Support Contribute to tender preparation and bid reviews, providing technical input, methodology and resourcing estimates. Support the Project Services Operations Manager in developing engineering capability and process improvements across the business. Engage with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to define scope, manage interfaces and identify opportunities for innovation or cost efficiency. Compliance & Governance Ensure engineering activities adhere to RSGx's Integrated Management System (IMS) and applicable legislation. Drive standardisation of engineering processes, templates and documentation across the team. Promote a strong safety culture in all aspects of engineering and project execution. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Power Engineering (or equivalent). 7+ years experience in HV construction, design or commissioning within the resources, utilities or energy sectors. Proven leadership experience managing small engineering teams. Experience with tendering, estimating or business development support. Strong understanding of HV systems, including substations, switchyards, transformers and protection / control systems. Primary and secondary commissioning experience, with proven knowledge in Omicron, Megger, Doble, VLF, etc. test rigs. Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards and network operator specifications. Demonstrated experience working across the full project lifecycle – design, construction and commissioning.
