Overview
Nomad has a great opportunity for a DevOps Project Engineer to join our global Engineering division in a hybrid role. This is a hybrid role with a direct reporting line to the Engineering Manager EMEA (East), and depending scope, also with a dotted line to the DevOps team leader/manager. The role will assist the DevOps Engineering manager in coordinating the DevOps function in the region, act as a technical point of escalation, and support project engineers within the team on the deployment and delivery of Nomad products and services. The successful person requires a deep understanding of wireless technologies including Wi-Fi (Wi Fi) and cellular networks (LTE, HSPA+, WCDMA, GSM) and Linux platforms. This role requires an individual with 2+ years of experience, who is flexible and able to travel to work on projects worldwide. The individual should also possess knowledge of server and storage infrastructure products, virtualization technologies, cloud services and networking principles.
This role will be based from our Vienna Office with a hybrid working arrangement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work in close collaboration with R&D to ensure all products are tested and Quality checked prior to Mentoring and training the engineering team where Work collaboratively with other DevOps engineers and team leaders to share resources and deliver solutions to Time, Cost, and Quality. Assist the DevOps engineering manager in managing team workload and triage on incoming work in JIRA Reporting on workload and KPI’s as agreed where Ensure control of all products and configuration releases to projects and operational fleets is maintained Support to projects and operational fleets for all product upgrades and general releases Conduct project engineering activities when assigned to a Ability to diagnose faults and offer solutions across a broad range of IT and communication systems with an emphasis on Linux environments, Virtualization, Security, and networking Implement and support complex solutions in diverse system environments Configuration management and task automation Continuous improvement of deployment, automation, and IP network configuration Where appropriate create documentation for both internal and external use Adhere to all system audit requirements as appropriate Troubleshooting application and system issues Implement automation and logging systems Configure equipment to match the project objectives Build test specifications and undertake test cycles to develop test plans and document the results Managing the handover to client or in-house support staff including training Troubleshoot and offer 3rd line support to other business divisions and customers Complete tasks and objectives set by other members of the team on time and within scope to ensure all the team is fully supported and departmental goals are reached. Proactively identify and exceed customer expectations to ensure a customer-focused service is always Operate within guidelines of the role and recognize when it is appropriate to escalate matters within the team to ensure the level of customer service is maintained. Must have 2 years’ minimum hands on experience configuring and troubleshooting networks Linux based systems: Centos / Debian Automation: Puppet / Ansible IPTables / firewalls Docker / containerization Network communications LAN and VLAN IP planning, preferably with some RF experience Supporting and troubleshooting Linux deployments High availability systems Centralised identity management IT Security DNS Virtualization (VMware / Xen / Proxmox) Scripting OSPF IP Routing IPv4 IPv6 Due to the nature of the role, you will require excellent communication, planning and co-ordination You will be expected to function well as both an independent problem solver and a team The role will require a flexible individual with a flexible approach to fit the demands of the The role can be home based but will require you to travel and work at both Nomad & remote sites to hands on work with nomad equipment. You will be required to fit and install equipment both office and site based, requiring a level of physical activity in a safe and suitable mannerKey Behavioural Competencies:
