PHP Web Developer

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer with expertise in WordPress custom development and a willingness or experience in React (Next.js) to join our dynamic Agile (Scrum) team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development, with hands-on experience in custom WordPress theme and plugin development. This role will also involve collaborating with the frontend team to integrate and maintain a Next.js frontend while keeping WordPress as a Headless CMS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop & maintain custom WordPress theme, plugins, and features to enhance the functionality and performance of our web application
- Integration with a React (Next.js) frontend while leveraging WordPress as a Headless CMS (Rest APIs)
- Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions and integrate with third-party systems and APIs
- Develop custom Gutenberg blocks and components to extend the capabilities of the WordPress editor
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional Agile (Scrum) teams to design, develop, and implement new features and enhancements.
- Optimize application performance, ensuring seamless user experiences across various devices and browsers
- Implement and manage caching systems to improve application performance and scalability
- Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality deliverables
- Utilize Bitbucket for version control and CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment
- Deploy and manage applications in an AWS Cloud environment, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
Qualifications
- Bachelor's / Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field desirable
- Professional experience in backend development, with a focus on WordPress (PHP, Rest API)
- Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
- Experience with headless WordPress setups and integrating with frontend frameworks like React (Next.js)
- Experience with WordPress custom theme and plugin development, Gutenberg block development
- Experience working with WPML plugin
- Experience with caching systems to optimize application performance and scalability.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with React (Next.js) or willingness to learn and work with React for frontend development
- Familiarity with Agile (Scrum) methodologies and working in cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in using Bitbucket for version control and CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
- Knowledge of Single Sign-On (SSO) implementation and integration with third-party systems and APIs.
- Experience deploying and managing applications in an AWS Cloud environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
