Project Overview:

The Western Renewables Link (WRL) is a proposed 190 kilometer overhead electricity transmission line from Bulgana in western Victoria to Sydenham in Melbourne's northwest. WRL will transport renewable energy from wind and solar farms in western Victoria to homes and business across the state and nation.

Job Summary:

As Senior Project Manager Construction Services, you will manage the awarded contract scope for the camp and other associated packages as required by the project where you will plan and review project activities, work schedules, and coordinate other contractor work activities.

Your oversight will ensure contractors have the information required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, job site work rules, and perform those activities within specifications, schedules, and budgets.

Major Responsibilities:

Leadership/Supervision

  • Manages the organization and direction of construction and construction related activities of an area on the project.

  • Acts as primary client contact for all area field activities.

  • Manages all activities within their assigned area, including the actions of Bechtel, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and their representatives.

  • Other responsibilities as designated.

Planning

  • Manages area expenditures for labour equipment, material and services and ensures field operations are within the budget.

  • Supports the development of project field procedures and objectives within corporate policies and procedures as necessitated by conditions at a jobsite.

  • Develops, implements, and administers a jobsite security plan and coordinates the activities with corporate security department.

Safety & Quality

  • Ensures development and execution of the Project Automation Plan, Environmental Compliance Plan, Safety Plan, Site Survey Plan, Non-Manual Staffing Plan, Subcontracting Plan, Labor Strategy Plan, Construction Execution Plan, and the job-site work rules.

  • Plans and establishes procedures to ensure construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of early project works in a client facing role or embedded in a client organisation.

  • Strong understanding of design relating early works and construction of camp facilities and their associated operation.

  • Understanding of an indirect organisation and how it is structured to ensure support and delivery of the main package scopes of work.

  • Strong stakeholder management across multiple entities and interest groups.

  • Prior high voltage design and construction experience.

  • Prior direct hire, contractor and subcontractor management experience including scope definition and management.
