Job Description

To support the HSE team in moving past commissioning and into full production/operation including administration and set up and safe running of a purpose-built facility.

To further support Youfoodz to achieve safety objectives for its employees, contractors and visitors. This will require high quality advice and partnering with various Departments within Youfoodz to mitigate safety and health risks and enhance employee wellbeing through empowerment and also systematic approaches.

All tasking must be completed in accordance with Good Manufacturing and Food Safety standards.

You willâ¦

  1.     Develop and Implement HSE Programs:
  •       Create, review, and update HSE policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with local regulations and industry standards.
  •       Establish safety guidelines for equipment operation, material handling, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  •       Conduct risk assessments and develop control measures to mitigate potential hazards.
  •       Assist in developing area specific Improvement plans aimed at continuous improvement and risk mitigation, and supporting the teams with its implementation

 

  1.     Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
  •       Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  •       Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations, and communicate any changes to the management team.
  •       Coordinate with external regulatory agencies, as necessary, to obtain permits and resolve compliance issues.
  •       Providing specialist advice, guidance and direction regarding safety issues relevant to specific business units to reduce the risk of injury and potential WorkCover claims in the workplace. 

 

  1.     Safety Training and Education:
  •       Assist in development and deliver comprehensive safety training programs to educate employees on safe work practices, emergency response procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  •       Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to address specific safety concerns and promote a proactive safety culture.
  •       Collaborate with supervisors to ensure employees receive appropriate training and certifications for their roles.
  •       Driving operational ownership and accountability of safety and wellbeing program to lead by example and improve safety culture

 

  1.     Incident Management and Investigation:
  •       Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  •       Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain records to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  •       Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop preventive measures and promote continuous improvement.
  •       Manage minor injuries through first aiding and liasing with WorkCover if required to help with claim management.

 

  1.     Environmental Sustainability:
  •       Develop and implement strategies to minimize the facility's environmental impact, including waste management, energy conservation, and water usage.
  •       Monitor and report on environmental performance indicators, such as greenhouse gas emissions, water consumption, and waste generation.
  •       Identify opportunities for sustainable practices and support initiatives for environmental certifications or awards.

 

  1.     Safety Inspections and Audits:
  •       Conduct regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance with safety standards.
  •       Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address identified issues promptly and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  •       Prepare reports on inspection findings, recommendations, and progress of corrective actions.
  •       Logging data into electronic systems and prioritising risk
  •       Any other tasks as reasonably directed

You haveâ¦

Qualifications

  • Essential:

    • Cert IV in Safety or related discipline
    • Open Australian driversâ licence
    • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid of equivalent

Experience

  • Strong engagement and stakeholder management experience with ability to demonstrate effective leadership
  • Experience in supporting Managers and teams in managing operational health issues
  • General understanding of Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Laws, and Injury Management and Return to Work principles.
  • Previous experience in fast paced working environments
  • Familiarity with hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate training sessions and meetings.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and HSE software applications.
  • Physical ability to conduct on-site inspections and assessments.
  • Proven track record in creating efficiency and meeting targets

Desirable:

  • Cert IV OHS
  • Mental health first aid certificate
  • Experience in a safety role in organisation/s with varied risk profiles and across multiple sites
  • Auditing experience
  • Strong knowledge of local and federal regulations pertaining to health particularly in the food manufacturing industry
