Accounting Manager

We are a well-established building company with a strong global presence, known for delivering innovative and reliable solutions across various industries. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Accounting Manager to join our Finance team in Yatala, Queensland.

This key leadership role is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the accounting function, including financial reporting, forecasting, and compliance, to ensure strong financial control across the business. You will oversee a team of accountants, ensuring accurate reporting and efficient financial operations while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and supervise the Financial Accountant, Management Accountant, and Fixed Asset Accountant, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly financial reports (MIS, earnings forecast, cash flow, and balance sheet reconciliations).
  • Review construction work-in-progress (WIP) reports, ensuring accurate cost allocations and timely project closures.
  • Approve key financial transactions, including accounts payable, journal entries, and expenditures.
  • Support the annual budgeting process and implement best practices in line with company guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining internal controls, financial systems, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Provide backup support for the Financial Controller as needed.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A degree in Accounting (CPA or CA qualification preferred).
  • Significant experience in a similar financial leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Oracle, SAP, or similar financial systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
