The company operates shipbuilding and sustainment facilities in Australia, the USA, Philippines and Vietnam.
Austal Australia is delivering multiple naval shipbuilding and sustainment programs for the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Border Force and the Department of Defence, employing approximately 1,000 people in facilities located in Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
About the Opportunity
With the new programs coming on line, Austal is seeking a Senior Naval Architect to join our Design team in Henderson. The successful candidate will be a qualified Naval Architect with excellent communication skills and notable experience in design and production support.
Responsibilities- Review and assess vessel designs, identifying opportunities and risks
- Continually review all aspects of the scope as it develops, providing technical/experience-based feedback for consideration
- Design in accordance with technical requirements (specification, contract, and relevant classifications and flag rules)
- Design in accordance with Austal processes for safety, quality, budget and risk mitigation
- Incorporation of lessons learnt
- Provide design support through production, commissioning, and delivery
- Hold a White Card
- Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture
- Proven experience in the areas of vessel design and regulatory compliance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Stability and FEA software
- 10+ years of experience in ship design and construction support
- Experience in the design of naval platforms
Security Clearance roles only: Due to the Security Clearance required for this position, applicants must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and uphold a Baseline Security Clearance through the Australian Department of Defence.
