SGAC is looking for a volunteer to join the SGAC team as Project Groups Co-Coordinator. Project groups Coordinators are tasked with overseeing the activities of SGAC's eleven Project Groups and reporting those activities to the SGAC Executive Council.

Responsibilities

Project Coordinators are volunteers who act as the point of contact between the different Project Group Co-Leads and the SGAC Executive Council. The Project Coordinator is expected to oversee the activities of SGAC Project Groups, which includes structuring project plans, reviewing and developing new project proposals, and driving short-term projects or collaborations that arise. This volunteer position offers challenging, rewarding, and professional skill-building experiences.

The Project Coordinator's duties are as follows:

  • Communicate regularly with the project group co-leads, overseeing the activities of the team and ensuring effective collaboration.
  • Encourage the initiation of new projects within the organization and review project proposals.
  • Coordinate the PG Coordination team (Logistics Lead, Partnership Lead, Events and Media & Communications).
  • Oversee the development of annual reports and Work Plans by the different project groups.
  • Regularly update the Project Groups page of the SGAC website.
  • Contribute to the SGAC annual report, prepare the training pack for use by future project coordinators and prepare an annual Work Plan at the beginning of each year.

Estimated time commitment: 2 – 5 hours per week

Qualifications
  • Experience with SGAC Project Groups is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, quick turnaround international environment and meet deadlines without compromising the quality of work.
  • Demonstrate leadership and teamwork experience.
  • Experience in project management roles is preferred.
  • Possess good communication skills in English.
  • Have the necessary time to monitor the different Project Groups and maintain regular communication with the Co-Leads, Project Group Members & Advisors, SGAC Chairs, and the Executive Director.
  • Flexible time planning and ready to be proactively involved.
  • High degree of self-organisation.
  • Cross-Cultural and Communication Awareness: Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with people from various international and cultural backgrounds.
