Your personal sphere of influence

:

As a university assistant prae doc, you will complement/complete the research team around Verena Jantsch. You will work on potential regulators or substrates of polo kinase in Caenorhabditis elegans meiosis. The group is based at Max Perutz Labs on the Vienna Biocenter Campus.

The Max Perutz Labs bring together the groups working in molecular biology at the University of Vienna.

In order to intensify the collaboration with the Medical University of Vienna in the field of molecular biosciences, the Max Perutz Labs were founded in 2005.

We maintain high-tech research infrastructures at two neighbouring locations, where around 450 scientists from more than 40 nations work in basic biomedical research in more than 45 research groups.


Employment duration

:

The employment duration is limited to 24 months.

Your future tasks

:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • Contribution to your research project with the topic polo kinase substrates and regulators in meiosis in C. elegans.
  • Contribution to the generation and analysis of mutants of putative polo kinase substrates or regulators.
  • You work on your dissertation and its completion.
  • Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations.
  • Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Involvement in the organization of meetings, conferences, symposia.
  • You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
  • Supervision of BSc and MSc students.

This is part of your personality

:

  • University degree in Biology, Molecular Genetics or related fields.
  • Successful VBC PhD program Selection or similar international PhD Selection required.
  • Practical experience in handling the model organism C. elegans, cytological analysis and biochemical assays.
  • Indepth knowledge of the meiotic cell division program.
  • Experience in genetics and biochemistry.
  • Experience with basic bioinformatics tools.
  • High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing.
  • Computer literacy (MS-Office; Imaging Software).
  • Basic experience in academic writing.
  • Didactic competences / experience with elearning.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 Level).
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Knowledge of university processes and structures.

Fair salary

:

Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: -48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc). The basic salary of EUR 3578,80 (on a full-time basis) increases if we can credit professional experience.
