Competence Center for Sustainability Transformation and Responsibility
Part-time, 20 hours/week
Starting March 15, 2023, and ending after 7 months
We are WU Vienna's hub for engagement with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Humanitarian Aid. We are currently looking for a 7-month part-time substitute for our center's Manager. This key position acts as an interface between administration and research dissemination.

As such, it includes organizing events, representing the university at local and international sustainability networks, and serving as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

Same routines and monotony are unlikely at our center, so we also hope you enjoy independent task management and like diving into new topics.

And yes, much of our work requires organizational skills and focus on details, but creativity and open communication are just as important

Please note that this is a substitution position, limited to 7 months.

What to expect:

  • Onthejob training will be provided by the current manager.
The responsibilities of the substitute position are varied and include:

  • Running various STaR administration (including budget) and management activities
  • Supporting initiatives/projects run by STaR core team, affiliated faculty and sustainabilityoriented student organizations
  • Representing STaR and WU at selected sustainability network workshops (if interested, may include short work trips abroad)
  • Event organization and management
  • Maintaining STaR website and LinkedIn site (with support of Assistant to the Manager)
  • Own ideas and new SDGawareness raising initiatives welcome

What you have to offer:

  • Completed secondary education (Matura): Bachelor's or a Master's degree is recommended but not a must; likewise, business education is also a plus but not a must
  • Sincere interest in SDGs and sustainable development
  • Independent task management, assuming responsibility, knowing how to prioritize
  • Passion for working in an international academic environment
  • Curiosity about academic research
  • Organizational skills and thoroughness
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Knowledge of various online communication tools and social media
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (CEFR C2, nearnative, or native speaker)
  • German language skills are preferred but not necessary
