    Offer Description:

Your duties:

  • Undertaking individual research and contributing to collaborative research into the second language acquisition and first language attrition of speech
  • Teaching courses on B.A. level (teaching degree/bachelor ́s programme English Studies/American Studies, 4 hours/week), holding examinations and (assisting with the) supervision of students and bachelor theses
  • Supporting the head and section (applied linguistics)
  • General organizational and administrative duties and evaluative measures
  • Participation in organizational and administrative tasks as well as in evaluation measures

Your Profile:

  • Doctoral degree in English/American Studies with a specialisation in second language acquisition and fist language attrition in the phonetic domain
  • Research background in acoustic phonetics; extensive experience with data collection and speech analysis software (at a minimum Praat and WebMaus), OCTRA, and statistical analysis methods in R
  • An outstanding academic record (at a minimum 4 peerreviewed papers published in renowned journals in second language acquisition and first language attrition of pronunciation, with at least two of them firstauthored)
  • Enthusiasm for phonetics, particularly for second language acquisition of pronunciation and first language attrition of speech
  • Experience giving talks on international conferences
  • Experience teaching B.A. courses in English linguistics; good teaching evaluations
  • Experience supervising and mentoring B.A. students
  • Native speaker of German and (near)native speaker of English (ability to teach in English)
  • Social competence, organizational talent and teamwork ability as well as ability to work independently and reliably
  • Interest in interdisciplinary work and in solving complex problems

Benefits

  • The minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement and according to the classification scheme is EUR 60.926,60 gross/year (for fulltime employment). This minimum salary may be higher due to previous employment periods eligible for inclusion and other earnings and remunerations.
