Your personal sphere of influence:A doctoral university assistant position ("Praedoc") is to be filled at the Department of Business Analytics and Decisions starting from January 1st, 2026. The contract duration upon appointment is 4 years, with the employment initially being limited to 1,5 years and can automatically be extended to a total of 4 years, provided that the employer does not issue a non-extension notice within a maximum of 12 months.Your future tasks:You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of Operations Research and Machine Learning.We expect you to complete your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.You will work on your dissertation and its completion.You will independently conduct teaching activities within the scope of collective bargaining agreements, in the field of Production and Logistics.You will undertake administrative tasks in research & teaching.You will supervise students.You will participate in publications/scientific presentations. This is part of your personality:• You have experience with exact and (meta-)heuristic solution methods in the field of Operations Research• You have experience with machine learning methods• You have a Master's degree in industrial engineering, information systems, business administration and/or economics, computer science or a related field.• You are familiar with methods for optimization under uncertainty, in particular decision-focused learning.• You are an experienced programmer, preferably using the Python programming language.• You are highly organized and have excellent communication skills.• You are familiar with optimization problems involving marine protection areas.
