The Doctoral School Computer Science DoCS (

The Doctoral School Computer Science provides the option of performance-based contract extensions (up to 3 months) to doctoral students who previously had a position as university assistant () or as third-party funded researcher () at the University of Vienna. This completion contract is meant to support a high-qualified DoCS fellow in the final phase of the doctoral studies. The successful applicant will get a contract as university assistant () and will be working in the research group "Data Mining and Machine Learning" at the Faculty of Computer Science. This job advertisement is a completion contract.

Your personal sphere of influence:

As a university assistant Praedoc, you will complement/complete the research team around Benjamin Roth and carry out tasks such as e.g. undertake research in the area of natural language processing using deep learning methods.

The focus of our research is in the area of natural language processing with deep learning methods, especially large language models.

This is a limited term position for 3 months.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

Completion of your doctoral studie

Completed master's/diploma degree in computer science, computational linguistics or a related field of stud

  Publications in the area of Natural Language Processing (e.g. ACL, EMNLP- )
  Didactic skills / experience in e-learnin- g
  Knowledge of deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, Huggingface, Tensorflow- )
  very good knowledge of Englis- h
  You are a team player with high social/communicative skill- s
  Knowledge in calibration of large language models is particularly desirabl- e
