About the Role:
Reporting to the Construction Manager you will take full control and responsibility of projects from initial setup to completion. You will interface with the client and contractors ensuring that building codes and safety are adhered to and maintained at all times. You will ensure that work is carried out in accordance to specifications & schedules. Effective cost control and efficient running of the project will be paramount in this role to ensure that department is successful. Throughout all projects you will program and coordinate contractors, materials and deliveries.
- Completing assigned projects in compliance with client expectations, company objectives, and all contractual documentation.
- Procuring necessary resources for assigned projects.
- Establishing and developing effective project teams.
- Authorising construction planning, programming and completion schedules.
- Authorising engagement of subcontractors and all major subcontract variations.
- Establishing industrial relations strategies to support project objectives and monitoring its implementation.
You will be liaising daily with stake holders, design consultants and construction team to provide a first-class service to clients. Ensuring effective cost control and efficient running of the project and or works.
Key responsibilities will include but not limited to;
- Ensuring compliance with HSECQ requirements
- Engage with the company's values and way of working
- Drive overall accountability for project deliverables
- Manage budgets and resources Managing site and employee safety.
- Promote and develop a positive safety culture across the business.
- Delivery of construction projects
- Coordinating project resources
- Managing and supervising employees and contractors across the various projects
- Stakeholder engagement to ensure collaborative agreement on project delivery
- Managing project timelines within contractual requirements
- Driving the department’s objectives in relation to projects and trade service delivery.
- Positively promote Schlager Group to existing and new clients.
- Manage and support commercial construction and support team.
- Project progress reporting and conducting weekly meetings
- Development of the project delivery strategy, including preparation of project definition and implementation plans (often incorporating financial modelling and business case development);
- Scoping, procurement and coordination of project team activities to achieve consolidated and integrated outcomes;
- Project team leadership;
- Regular reporting on activities underway and planned, including identifying and providing proactive guidance and responses to project issues;
- Liaison with project stakeholders in consultation with the client, including delivering key project messages and receiving and collating feedback;
- Management of project finances, including developing and tracking project costs and revenues;
- Management of project procurement and contract administration function;
- Coordination of project approvals; and
- Management of client, project team and stakeholder relationships. Preparing Bids and Tenders
- Lead the project to achieve milestones in line with the schedule of works
- Be a cultural leader and mentor for the team
- Develop strong relationships internally and on site with the client
- Deliver outcomes in a safe and productive manner
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar project, supervisory or management role in the construction industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge and dedication to safety and OH&S procedures
- Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation abilities.
- Demonstrable ability to communicate, present and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization, including executive and management level.
- Advanced understanding of systems including Excel, Microsoft word, and Microsoft Project.
- Working knowledge of Procore would be highly regarded.
- Possess at least 5 years' experience in project management and construction.
- Be able to work independently and effectively as a team member;
- Be keen to learn and develop your project management career;
- Experience delivering client-focused solutions to customer needs.
- Proven ability to juggle multiple projects at a time, while maintaining sharp attention to detail.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, with proven attention to detail and commitment to see things through to the end;
- Hands-on site involvement of construction work methods and building practices
