About this part of our organisation:

Our Zinc Assets in Australia include multiple & geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants and port facilities. Globally we have Zinc operations across Asia, both North and South American continents and Europe which translates to a world of potential career opportunities for you.

Mount Isa is home to the majority of our assets in Australia and this role can be based residentially in Mount Isa (always our preference).

Mount Isa is one of the better facilitated mining towns around the country. With a local community of around 20,000 residents there are multiple choices of schools, supermarkets, and activities. From arts and culture to a thriving sporting community and more, it is the central hub for the surrounding area housing key government services for the region and hosting events such as the largest rodeo in the southern hemisphere.

About your potential new position:

Focussing on the Lead Zinc processing plant you will guide a small team in the safe and strategic implementation of reliability centred maintenance protocols and general plant support activities to keep the plant running at optimal levels of throughput due to increased availability, reliability and capacity whilst making cost savings through maximising high value component life.

Some of your key responsibilities will be:

  • Overseeing the implementation of maintenance strategies, tactics, and tools, to reduce the cost and complexity of planned maintenance tasks.
  • Ensuring plant compliance to standards on all statutory equipment by conducting periodic audits, engaging with third parties, or as required by revisions to legislative guidelines.
  • Facilitating failure investigations and implementing defect elimination initiatives.
  • Providing technical plant support to operations and maintenance departments.
  • Identification of critical equipment risk areas and supporting Capital Expenditure Budget planning process.
  • Identifying and delivering continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentoring and developing your team and graduate engineers within the Processing department.

About you:

  • You will have tertiary studies in an appropriate engineering discipline or extensive experience in the field of reliability engineering.
  • As you will be heading a team and guiding others you will need several years of experience working in the resources sector with processing plant experience highly regarded.
  • Practical application of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and similar methodologies.
  • You can identify what data is useful to collect (and what isn’t), how to safely, cost effectively and efficiently collect it and most importantly utilise the data consistently.
  • You be proficient with maintenance management systems (we utilise SAP).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing and problem-solving skills with leadership positions highly regarded.
  • You enjoy coaching and developing others and gain satisfaction through incremental improvements.
