Reliability Technical Specialist – Shovels - Mobile Equipment Maintenance
Barrick Gold’s Porgera operation is seeking experienced and dedicated professionals to join our Porgera Mine team as Reliability Technical Specialists. We are searching for seasoned tradespeople with technical expertise in the field.
New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea, and operates the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province on behalf of the Porgera Joint Venture partners. The Porgera Gold Mine employs over 2,500 Papua New Guineans, and over the life of the mine, it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports. NPL offers experienced mining professionals the opportunity to play an important role in the training and development of our national workforce. About the Role
As a Reliability Technical Specialist (Shovels), you will utilize historical maintenance information and real-time data to identify downtime trends and root causes. Your focus will be on developing corrective action plans to eliminate downtime, which may involve alternative parts selection, adjustments to maintenance strategies, education/training of maintenance crews, development of procedures, implementation of QA/QC for critical tasks, or other innovative solutions.
Role Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accuracy of downtime information in the fleet management system and drive correct behaviors with shift supervisors.
- Identify parts and components with high consumption rates and develop solutions to reduce maintenance costs.
- Ensure optimal performance of plant and equipment through regular performance testing.
- Maintain quality control of work executed by maintenance crews and identify individual training needs for technicians.
- Regularly monitor safety and product improvement information released from OEMs.

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Very seasoned tradesperson with a guru level of expertise.
- Expertise with Caterpillar systems and experience on Terex RH120E’s / Cat 6030 excavator and shovels, Caterpillar C series, and Cummins QSK engines preferred.
- Previous experience in a reliability or business intelligence role is highly desirable.
- Root cause analysis training, especially Caterpillar Applied Failure Analysis 1 & 2, preferred.
- Intermediate-level Excel skills are highly desirable.
- Strong report writing skills and the ability to source and interpret data are essential.
- Ability to develop and manage corrective action plans for reliability improvement campaigns is essential.
- Background in QA/QC highly desirable.
