Metropolitan Memorial Parks (MMP) manages eight Memorial Parks across Sydney and the Hunter regions, covering 400 hectares of Crown Land. These parks provide peaceful spaces for remembrance and reflection, honoring the memories of loved ones. We are dedicated to affordability and community care, overseeing cemetery operations under the NSW Crown Land Management Act.
Position Overview
As the Project Manager - Capital Works, you will hold a pivotal role in the effective management of capital projects within MMP's Built Environment team. Reporting to the Senior Manager Capital Works/Projects of Built Environment, you will lead the delivery of projects across MMP cemetery sites, ensuring alignment with time, cost, safety, environmental and quality standards. Your collaboration with internal teams, stakeholders and external partners will be instrumental in achieving successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Manage a diverse portfolio of Capital Works projects, navigating varying levels of complexity with adeptness.
- Oversee all aspects of project lifecycle, from planning to execution, ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines and quality standards.
- Conduct procurement and selection processes for contractors, aligning with NSW Government policies.
- Monitor and manage contracts, including evaluation of progress and performance monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and policy requirements.
- Maintain a focus on safety and environmental sustainability.
- Cultivate effective relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders and vendors.
- Prepare comprehensive project documentation, reports and stakeholder communications.
- Conduct site inspections and WHS audits to uphold project objectives and standards.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative work environment, fostering continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- Formal Qualifications in Project Management (Cert IV or Diploma).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in client-side capital works project management.
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget and to quality standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Experience in stakeholder management and contractor coordination.
- Understanding of WHS legislation, practices and compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organisational and planning abilities.
- Ethical conduct and integrity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows environment.
- Current unrestricted Driver’s License and Construction White Card.
- Qualifications in Building, Civil Construction, or related field.
- Experience in procurements in accordance with the NSW Government Procurement Framework.
- Familiarity with project management frameworks.
- Qualification in WHS for Construction Supervisors.
