About the role
Woman’s Day is looking for the ultimate wordsmith to join our team as Senior Copy Editor. This is a rare opportunity for someone who is passionate about telling stories, dedicated to spelling and grammar, and making good copy sing.
As one of two copy editors in a dynamic, creative, and highly driven team, you’ll be responsible for copy editing and fact checking everything from celebrity updates and exclusive interviews with Aussie talent, to breaking news stories and lifestyle and food content. One thing’s for sure – no two days will ever be the same
We’re looking for someone with an eye for the finer details, who can help write headlines, captions and coverlines, and maintain the tone and pace of our print, social and digital outputs. You’ll work closely with the Editor and Digital Managing Editor, ensuring quality always comes first, and assisting writers with edits where needed.

Duties
- Stay up to date with all celebrity, royal and breaking Aussie news
- Copy edit and fact check all stories featured within the magazine each week, and where required, digital stories and assets, providing feedback and guidance for writers and contributors
- Be responsible for maintaining the overall tone of all Woman’s Day branded publications, while also being creative and innovative with new approaches and styles
- Contribute to digital story building
- Take charge of legal checks and prepublication processes
- Adhere to a clear and effective workflow that ensures best practice publication
Skills and experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience on a magazine, website, or related industry
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an attention to detail that is second to none
- Ability to deal with a fast paced, changing environment
- Professional, mature, and decisive in approach
- Experience with editorial software applications
