Bundamba State Secondary College seeks a focussed and dynamic Head of Department - Mathematics to join a committed leadership team on our journey to achieve best possible outcomes and pathways for all of our students. You will lead a shared educational vision focused on providing quality teaching andlearning outcomes for all students.

About the Role

As the Head of Department - Mathematics, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead school AIP strategy of Successful students, Endless Opportunities, Empowered Communities.
  • Faculty strategy including improvement strategies, meetings, faculty promotion and innovation.
  • Teach 3 lines as required in school timetable.
  • Schoolwide NAPLAN management inclusive of data investigations for growth areas of impact to inform targeted curriculuminterventions

Curriculum and Assessment

Instructional leadership of learning and teaching (pedagogy and curriculum), assessment and performance.
11 & 12 Specialist Maths Cluster Lead, 11 & 12 Mathematical Methods, General Maths, Essential Maths
Short Course in Numeracy
7-10 Maths
Cert II GEA
All subjects are inclusive of ICP and EALD students
Quality assurance of curriculum plans and teacher planning, including senior TLAPS (general, essential, short course and applied)
Quality assurance of embeddedness of AC, QCE and vocational learning in curriculum
Moderation and calibration of all curriculum and results, Support staff preparing ICP related assessment and resources
Lead student inclusion and differentiation in all faculty subjects.

People and Pedagogy

Build capacity of teachers in faculty
APDPs for allocated faculty teachers identifying priority areas for support
Engage in collegial observations and feedback, Visit classes on a formal and informal basis
Supervision of senior/experienced senior teacher additional activities, oversight of faculty teachers moving from provisional to full registration
Facilitate, organise and approve appropriate professional development in accordance with curriculum trends
Support staff with student behaviour management and action curriculum related referrals
Ensure staff adhere to the whole school learning policy.

Data and Reporting

Analyse and review faculty subject data to inform strategic planning and improvement
Lead data conversations with faculty teachers as per school data plan
Tracking and analysis of student performance and associated interventions/actions
QCAA Senior data uploads for student management, QCAA Upload student work.
