Finity is looking to recruit a Risk Manager on a permanent part-time basis (3-4 days a week)

About the role
The Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing the risk management framework for Finity. The Risk Manager is also accountable for the management of the Risk functions in support of the strategic objectives of the business, including the practice areas. The role will work closely with the Risk and Compliance Committee (RCC), the Operational Risk Management Forum (ORMF) and the Legal and Compliance Manager (LCM) to ensure that Finity’s risks are identified, managed and understood.
This role is essential to executing effective and efficient operational strategies that deliver exceptional service to our clients, whilst operating within Finity’s risk appetite and strategic direction.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic advice and direction to the Risk and Compliance Committee, in formulating, monitoring and maintaining the company's strategic risk appetite in accordance with the business plan; defining Key Risk Indicators and tolerances, in accordance with the principles that underlie the strategic objectives of Finity and in alignment with the risk appetite.
- Ensure quality and timely executive committee reports, providing transparency on issues and management actions.
- Undertake annual self risk assessments, risk reporting ,maintaining risk management related policies, monitoring and establishing the key risk and control framework to ensure these reflect the operations of the business, the operating environment, and emerging risks.
- Enhance risk awareness within the organisation and the execution of risk management by the first line by overseeing, advising and monitoring activities, ensuring process/system changes and emerging risks and issues are escalated in a timely manner to avoid risk issues.
- Actively promote risk awareness amongst staff through risk training and incident and issue resolution.
- Support the business with the capture, analysis and identification of insights and translating these to actionable outcomes.
- Role model positive risk management behaviours and proactively identify, report and manage incidents and issues.
About you
- Bachelor of Commerce/Economics/Business/Laws or relevant industry qualification
- 5+ years’ previous experience in risk management and compliance experience gained within the Financial Services industry, ideally with some insurance industry specific experience
- Demonstrated expertise in risk identification, assessment, control design and implementation
- Practical knowledge and experience of APRA Prudential Standards and ASIC Regulatory Guides
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Advanced professional report writing and presentation skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Agile thinker and quick learner with the ability to reset expectations and respond swiftly
- Outcomes focused and results driven
- Commercial acumen and awareness
