Senior Financial Accountant

Location: Sydney CBD, Australia
Position: Senior Financial Accountant

We are recruiting on behalf of our client who is an Not-For-Profit organisation based in Sydney CBD with a hybrid working model. This is an excellent opportunity for someone coming from Big 4, Large Accounting Firms or Not-For-Profit organisations. 

Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will be integral to our finance team, responsible for various key result areas including:

Statutory Accounts Preparation: Lead the preparation of half-year and year-end statutory accounts.Financial Close Management: Oversee the month-end financial close process, including intercompany processes, journal review, balance sheet reconciliations, and group consolidation.Technical Accounting: Collaborate with the Manager Financial Reporting to address technical accounting issues, ensuring regulatory compliance and documenting accounting positions.Audit Coordination: Manage the coordination of external auditors for half-year reviews and year-end audits, implementing changes to entity structure as required.Taxation Reporting: Partner with the Group Manager – Taxation for tax effect accounting and reporting, including tax disclosures in financial statements.Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement within the finance environment and lead projects to address them, implementing new financial standards as required.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with the broader finance function, including shared services and management accounting, to deliver efficient financial reporting processes.  
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA/CA qualification preferred.
  • Extensive experience in financial accounting and reporting within a listed organisation.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including regulatory compliance.
  • Experience managing external audits and implementing process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and across departments.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to company values.
