The role
The Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility (AMRF) team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Engineer, Precision Machining as part of the Manufacturing Development technical team to deliver solutions for industry through the expert programming of CNC machines for precision machining. The role collaborates with software and machine tool vendors to establish advanced machining capabilities for all AMRF machines and plans, develops, and optimises manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production of high-quality products.
Key responsibilities include developing software post processors for CNC platforms, programming, and validating machine control instructions, implementing off the shelf manufacturing tooling and work holding solutions, and capable of operating CNC platforms from time to time. The Senior Engineer, Precision Machining works closely with the AMRF Applications, Workshop, and Process Control teams to ensure seamless integration and resolve technical issues.
- Demonstrable experience delivering high-quality design engineering projects compliant with project objectives, quality and customer expectations, safety and environmental standards, time, budget, and resource constraints.
- Hands on experience working with a variety of precision machining platforms in an industrial setting.
- Working knowledge and understanding of 3D design and simulation software, and technical drawings per ASME Y14.5 or AS1100.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language for modifying/writing post processors.
- Demonstrated experience in using an industrial setting programming multi-axis (>4 axes) CNC platforms.
What is an essential requirement:
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, or related disciplines, or demonstrated, equivalent, relevant professional experience and training.
