Job Description

About the position

The Accounts Payable Team Leader is responsible for managing a small team of Accounts Payable officers and for providing financial support to the Finance Team with responsibilities including supervising AP operations, FINOPS account maintenance, credit card reconciliations, expense re-imbursements and travel reconciliations.

Primary Duties:

They key accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide supervisory support for AP officers within the team and ensure the performance of the overall team meets expectations.
  • Prepare weekly payment proposals.
  • Periodic review of supplier master files
  • Preparation of AP related monthly reconciliations including Trade payables, GRIR, prepayments and credit card clearing, as well as related financial statement notes.
  • Ongoing review of prepayments and GRIR reports and investigation of long outstanding items.
  • Working with Quality and Supply Chain divisions to manage Return to Vendor items (RTVs) and investigations into long outstanding items.
  • Liaise with suppliers on queries.
  • Working with the Financial Accounting Team to lodge and pay returns such as BAS, payroll tax.
  • Review expenditure expense reports for proper authorisation and precision.
  • Prepare and give advice on operations and staff budgets for authorisation.
  • Management of foreign currency accounts and intercompany transactions.
  • Assistance with month-end, half year review and year end audit as required.

About You

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Experience in a similar role and have an overall understanding of accounting principles.
  • Highly developed organisational and problem-solving skills with proven ability to prioritise tasks and establish efficient work processes with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders/customers on a regular basis with high levels of professionalism.
  • Being up to date with internal control procedures and concepts.
  • Ability to delegate duties and tasks where appropriate.
  • Ability to actively contribute to and lead change management implementation and system and process improvement initiatives.
  • Must be able to work within tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferable but not required.
