Wellbeing Health Nurse Coordinator

This position qualifies for a Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (pro-rata part-time/temporary positions less than 18 months), under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.
This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.
Packages may consist of family and compassionate travel assistance, an upfront Rural Recruitment Cash Bonus upon appointment, contributions to professional development, utility reimbursements and study assistance, in addition to relocation benefits and accommodation assistance.

The Far West Local Health District is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people. Travel required through the District including, Dareton Primary School, Buronga Primary School, Wentworth Primary School and Coomealla High School.
- The Wellbeing and Health in-reach Nurse (WHIN) Coordinator CNS2 is responsible for facilitating identification of health, wellbeing and social needs and the coordination of appropriate early intervention, assessments, and referral to services for school-aged children and young people attending designated primary and secondary schools.
- The WHIN Coordinator CNS2 is a Registered Nurse who works in identified local schools and applies their specialist clinical nursing knowledge, experience and skill in providing complex health care coordination for school aged children, young people and their families in these schools.
- The WHIN Coordinator CNS2 role requires leadership, specialist skills, capacity for a significant level of autonomy and independent work in an interagency context. Coordination of access to services across multiple agencies, professions and groups will be part of the role.

The Far West Local Health District is one of 15 LHDs under NSW Health, providing high quality public health services to the communities in far west NSW including, the Barkandji, the Muthi Muthi, the Wilyakali, the Ngiyampaa, the Wadigali, the Malyangaba and the Wangkumara). On the NSW side of the Murray River, Buronga is a beautiful rural town, just 10km from Mildura Victoria, many of our staff live in the booming regional hub of Mildura and travel the short 10 minutes to work. Mildura has a population of over 50,000 and growing with all the facilities of a regional city, yet is uniquely positioned in the scenic, Sunraysia region, famous for its sunshine, and horticulture including grapes and oranges. While Mildura thrives as its own destination, it is also a great base for touring many iconic natural wonders and picturesque locations nearby including the world renowned Mungo National Park
How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:
- Current Registered Nurse Division 1 National Registration (AHPRA) with a minimum of 3 years post registration clinical experience working with children and young people, a post registration qualification related to the specialty area of child and family health, or paediatrics, or adolescent / youth health nursing practice or other related area.
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience working with children and young people, including marginalised and at-risk groups, and health promotion, prevention and early intervention approaches and evidence based practice.
- Demonstrated capacity to engage with families to address various health and mental health problems for children and young people and effectively liaise with health and social services involved in their care.
- Demonstrated ability to work within an interagency context, with an emphasis on relationship building

The LHD is sparsely populated, with 62% of its approximately 30,000 inhabitants living in the Silver City of Broken Hill. The remainder of the population live in agricultural towns along the Murray River, in small remote communities of 80-800 people or on stations throughout the LHD. Far West LHD is the most sparsely populated LHD in NSW and has the highest proportion of Aboriginal residents (9.6%). The population is decreasing, ageing and experiencing significant morbidity related to lifestyle factors and chronic illness.
The vision for Far West LHD is Excellence in Rural and Remote Health. The LHD is working to develop a more stable, resident workforce with reduced reliance on fly-in and agency staff, and ensuring that high quality services are provided in accredited, high quality facilities.
