An exciting opportunity exists within ICT Support Services as a Permanent AO5 Data Standards and Reporting Officer, in this role you Utilise Power BI, SCOM (System Centre Operations Manager), and other reporting and monitoring tools to undertake proactive analysis and provide accurate and timely reporting, system notifications, and data visualisation to the team and stakeholders regarding system, infrastructure, and service availability issues. The Data Standards and Reporting Officer, reports to the Manager, ICT Support Services, Enterprise Technology Services, Information and Technologies Branch, People and Corporate Services Division.

The team utilises various tools, including Microsoft System Operations Manager (SCOM), PowerBI, and Dynatrace, to provide ICT service owners and application support teams with comprehensive reporting, infrastructure monitoring, and systems alert functionalities

The monitoring and reporting team provides the following key services:

  • The use of SCOM and Dynatrace provides monitoring and alerting capabilities.
  • Infrastructure monitoring: servers, applications, databases and network devices
  • Configured alerts and various system thresholds
  • Monitoring a variety of applications, internal websites, and APIs
  • Enhance reporting capabilities using PowerBI and Dynatrace.

Your Role:

Provide technical expertise to the department's ICT systems, including specifically:

  • SCOM administration: This role entails performing a multitude of administrative tasks, such as configuring alerts and system thresholds, maintaining monitoring and notification rules, and performing various reporting tasks based on the team's or stakeholder's requirements.
  • Gather the monitoring and event dashboard requirements, including data sources, design layout, and targeted audience information, from a cross-section of customers and stakeholders.
  • Provide administrative support to clients in order to facilitate monitoring tool use, such as frequent health checks, patches, and updates to monitoring tools.
  • Create a comprehensive technical training package for the reporting and monitoring teams, provide training to colleagues, and prepare monitoring requirement documentation for customers.
  • capacity assessments, identifying and analysing opportunities for expansion or upgrade
  • proactively monitoring critical ICT services
  • performance and platform tuning
  • Offering advice and support to the departmental staff.
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Managing vulnerabilities and cyber security of ICT assets

The below items represent highly desirable qualities that the ideal candidate would possess:

  • Prior experience managing monitoring platforms such as SCOM, Azure monitoring and Dynatrace
  • Prior experience developing PowerBI reports and dashboards
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. Basic SQL, PowerShell) for automation and database management tasks
  • Leveraging cutting-edge technologies and data analytics to provide actionable insights and enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.
