Electoral Commission SA (ECSA) has an opportunity for a suitably experienced individual to develop, lead and manage the agency’s corporate planning, risk and performance program of work.
The Manager, Risk and Performance will lead and manage a small team, and be responsible for managing ECSA’s risk management framework, internal audit function, strategic and corporate planning, freedom of information and public interest disclosure processes, performance reporting, records management and have oversight of the project management office.
Reporting to the Electoral Commissioner, specific key responsibilities include:
- Establishing, developing and maintaining ECSA’s risk management framework, including associated policies and procedures.
- Establishing, managing and maintaining an organisational risk register with clear risk ratings, mitigation strategies, responsibilities and actions.
- Providing high level executive officer services to the Risk and Performance Committee.
- Driving and coordinating ECSA’s strategic and corporate planning activities including developing planning methods, documents and events and establishing performance measurement methodologies.
- Establishing, preparing and executing ECSA’s internal audit plan.
- Overseeing ECSA’s project management office and presenting regular project management reports and updates to executive.
- Overseeing ECSA’s records management function, including electronic and hard copy records.
Applications are encouraged from individuals with a relevant tertiary qualification (risk, governance, law or similar) and previous experience in leading an organisation’s corporate governance function. Experience in organisational risk management, strategic planning, performance reporting, as well as knowledge of project management office activities are essential to this role. The successful applicant will have high-level written and verbal communication skills, ability to develop collaborative working relationships across teams, and display a high-level of personal and professional integrity.
Special Conditions
- This role is offered on an ongoing basis.
- In order not to compromise the strict neutrality of the Commission, no person who is active in political affairs or intends to carry on this activity may be an employee.
- Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the Commission finds satisfactory.
- Extensive out of normal working hours duty may be required during election events.
- Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Remuneration
ASO7 - $106,512 to $115,137 per annum

- Applications must be submitted with a completed SA Public Sector Pre-employment Declaration, cover letter, resume/CV and a report (of no more than two pages) addressing the following essential requirements:
- Demonstrated capacity to exercise judgement and original thinking in a complex and changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems, analyse information and formulate, negotiate on and execute appropriate solutions in an innovative and resourceful manner.
- Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative working relationships across teams to facilitate effective risk management and performance outcomes.
- Experience in auditing or assurance, internal control assessment and process management and review.
- Experience in risk management and mitigation, and the maintenance of organisation level risk registers.
