As the Principal Applications Developer, you will lead the development of integration tools for DSS applications and BI applications, enabling users to access and report on business data using best practice technologies. You will be a critical part of a team of around forty professionals, with a focus on delivering high-quality, secure, and efficient solutions.

As the Principal Applications Developer, you will lead the development of integration tools for DSS applications and BI applications, enabling users to access and report on business data using best practice technologies. Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Development: Design and develop Finance Solutions' applications to implement contemporary, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions. Ensure business-critical data is readily available for performance management reporting and analysis.
  • Technical Advice: Provide expert recommendations on application engineering, focusing on in-house developed systems and integration components. Areas include best practice code design, capacity and performance, data security, interface design, data visualisations, user settings, and systems development release strategies.
  • Lifecycle Management: Document and execute development work aligned with business requirements. Ensure appropriate testing across the software development lifecycle and support integration testing for new and enhanced applications.
  • Data Management: Contribute to the management of large-scale data warehouse environments, ensuring adherence to security and quality practices for high-quality, consistent information services.
  • Technical Support: Offer advanced technical advice and support to internal and external team members, maintaining configuration, patching standards, incident management, and system maintenance policies.
  • Problem Solving: Solve complex problems, understand customer needs, and apply technical solutions effectively. Create comprehensive documentation from analysis to post-production support, including data maintenance.
  • Collaboration: Engage with business and technical staff to ensure system reporting meets business requirements. Ensure projects are scoped with accurate time and effort estimates.
  • Professional Development: Promote the professional development of Finance Solutions staff through coaching, mentoring, and leading by example in continuous learning.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrated experience in software development and maintenance, particularly with Decision Support Systems (DSS) and custom components.
  • Tools & Technologies: Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Analysis Services, SQL Reporting Services, Integration Services, Oracle, GIT, SVN, Visual Studio, Visual Code, Angular UI, React, Typescript, Entity Framework Core, SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, Javascript, C#, ASP.NET, Java, XML, MDX, DAX, Unix shell scripting, PowerShell, and Excel macros.
  • Project Management: Proven experience in managing application development projects, including defining business requirements, resource management, and working autonomously under tight deadlines.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders, document business requirements, provide advice to senior management, and support staff.
  • Analytical Skills: High-level analytical skills to identify trends, resolve issues, and translate business requirements into technical deliverables.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work as part of a high-level technical and multi-disciplinary team in a customer-focused ICT environment.
