Principal Engineer

As part of DNV’s Energy Advisory Group in Australia and Asia Pacific, the role will involve working along with other specialists as part of our independent, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy team with a focus on utility scale offshore wind projects during feasibility, development, design, construction and operation.
The position is also expected to have business development responsibilities. This includes co-operating with colleagues world-wide to establish long-term customer relationships, keeping abreast of industry needs and trends, and supporting the growth of DNV’s operations in Australia.
Education:
- Master of Engineering degree or higher in a relevant discipline e.g. mechanical, electrical, geotechnical or civil/structural
- Business qualifications desired but not essential in management or business development
- Experience with DNV’s Renewables Architect software will be well regarded.
Key knowledge, skills and experience include:
- Utility scale offshore wind farm design and optimisation, as well as owner’s engineering
- Offshore wind project investigations e.g. metocean, geotechnical, etc
- Passionate about renewables
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, including ability to write clear and detailed technical reports in English
- Good organisation and time management skills, ability to cope with a wide variety of tasks.
- Business development experience with major offshore wind clients
Physical abilities:
- Normal office environment, regular walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing and reaching.
- Some domestic and international travel to other company office locations, site locations, client offices and conferences.
Occasional work outdoors including site visits, traveling by car and plane, and walking on uneven terrain.

The role will also be involved with the broader range of typical project engineering services including:
- Project due diligence reviews, lenders technical advisory services and related scopes of work, including equipment inspections, performance tests and contract reviews.
- Review, analysis, site inspection, reporting and client liaison in the areas of feasibility assessment, design, development, construction, operation, maintenance, due diligence and financing of grid-connected offshore wind energy projects.
- Client liaison including development and continual review of client requirements, managing client expectations, keeping clients informed of work progress and ensuring timely production of deliverables.
- Maintaining communication with other specialists from other international DNV offices and facilitating information sharing in this area.
