The role: 

The Business Systems Manager (BSM) manages, install and maintains Retail Point of Sale and Back Office Systems throughout the country for Ampol and its supporting business partners. The BSM ensures that these services are delivered within agreed timeframes, quality of workmanship and with the specified standards. You may be required to add value by providing Training and Support for Ampol systems within agreed remit of the role.

This is a permanent, full time position within our Alexandria HQ, with regular travel across NSW & ACT, for country & interstate rollouts, installations and training. 

  • Provide 3rd level support, coaching, on-site investigation & technical advice in the use of Ampol Point of Sale (POS), Back Office Systems (BOS), payment systems & site infrastructure. 
  • Manage the installation of POS & BOS Computer Systems at Retail sites, as scheduled and with minimum site disruption 
  • Provide business case input & review as the SME stakeholder in projects, initiatives, 
  • enhancements, testing, program development and vendor reviews for proposed new systems 
  • Analyse and resolve on-site Retail IT system issues, and submit recommended solutions to Retail Systems Application Team. Attend and participate in IT Problem investigation activities 
  • Build and develop effective working relationships with internal & external customers. 
  • Defines User Acceptance Test conditions, designs and executes Test Scripts to map 
  • Ensure Ampol IT Retail Systems are reliable, stable, and meet prescribed operational standards for their use at sites. 
  • Drive continuous improvement by Identification of System/Process improvements, including business and financial benefits. 
  • Coordinate suppliers & site management for POS & BOS pre-installation, installation & conversion activity 

About you: 

  • Broad knowledge of foundation infrastructure services design and delivery including 
  • LANs, WANs, End User Computing, servers, desktops, security, communications  and data systems and associated links to applications, particularly as they apply to the Retail environment 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Lotus Notes 
  • Customer focussed with a sense of urgency in delivery 
  • Extensive knowledge of a broad range of software and Operating Systems, including Point of Sale & Back Office Systems 
  • Extensive knowledge of a broad range of hardware platforms, networks and system architecture. 
  • Relevant knowledge & experience in EFT networks and fundamentals 
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and accounting software for Small Business Systems 
  • Knowledge of the various Ampol Consumer Sales Systems preferred 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both external (eg vendors) and internal stakeholders 
  • Ability and willingness to work away from home for extended periods at a time e.g. for country & interstate rollouts, installations and training
