We are seeking an experienced Health Safety & Environment Manager to oversee the continuous development, implementation and management of all health, safety and environmental programs across the company?s fast paced food manufacturing facility. This is a critical role responsible for driving the safety outcomes by influencing and supporting our managers and operations across our health, safety and environmental related areas. 

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager - Operations, your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements. 
  • Manage the Operations Training Matrix including facilitating various health and safety training sessions. 
  • With a sound knowledge of the WHS Act 2020 (WA) and Codes of Practice, integrate any changes into the company?s Safety Management System and communicate changes to management and supervisors.
  • Lead risk management, risk assessment, incident investigations and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and implement an Environmental safety framework including risk assessments, audit framework and reporting and train employees in the new framework.
  • Collaborate with managers to monitor legislative compliance, Australian Standards conformance and opportunities for risk mitigation.
  • Develop, conduct, and review HSE Inductions and onboarding, toolbox meetings and internal training and safety meetings.
  • Conduct safety related audits and provide advice and guidance to senior management regarding continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate strategies and implement risk controls contributing to the improvement of HSE throughout the company. 
  • Manage the Injury Management and national Worker Compensation Claim Management processes including organising appropriate pre-employment health assessments.
  • Manage contractor management including contractor inductions, review permits to work, and checking tickets and qualifications.
  • Lead the Safety Committee Representative with the support of the HSE team and other operational management.
  • Produce data driven safety performance reports and insights for the Executive Leadership team. 
About you

To be successful in the role, you will possess: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications such as a Bachelor?s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent. 
  • Significant experience with the Australian Standards including AS/NZS ISO 45001 and AS/NZS ISO 14001. 
  • At least 5 years? experience in a HSE management position with the ability to coach and lead a small, professional team.
  • Exposure to MYOSH or similar safety management tracking software is preferred.
  • The ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment and, with a can do attitude.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting with the view to leading continuous improvement across all aspects of HSE. 
  • Well developed communication and presentation capability. 
  • Excellent computer skills within Microsoft Office.
  • Strong team player with the ability to multi-task and work to tight and competing deadlines.
  • Incident investigation experience using ICAM and Taproot is preferred.
  • Exposure to High Risk ? Permit to work, Confined Space, Working at Heights, Forklift and EWP.
