This federal government department is at the forefront of delivering policies and programs that improve Australia's Law & Justice frameworks. This team is responsible for progressing a range of family law related policy work.

Your new role

Your new role will see you join a welcoming and high performing team of legal and policy professionals who are leading significant legislative reforms to acts and regulations. Your new position will see you responsible for the following:

  • Lead high level conversations with industry stakeholders on the impact of legislation reforms to acts and regulations.
  • Conduct legal research, analyse legislation and provide expert advice on family law matters
  • Prepare high-quality policy documents, briefs and reports for senior executives.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful in this position, you must be a current EL1 in the public service, looking for a section 26 transfer, as well as possess the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in legal policy development and legislative reform projects.
  • The ability to analyse complex topical legal issues and propose practical solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
  • An understanding of Family Law is desirable
  • Must hold a baseline clearance or higher.
