About Moorditj Koort Aboriginal Organisation 

Moorditj Koort Aboriginal Corporation (MKAC) is an Aboriginal community controlled, not-for-profit organisation supporting the health and wellness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in Western Australia. The Vision is to contribute to healthy and flourishing Aboriginal communities across WA by providing access to a holistic one-stop-shop for health and wellbeing support.

Position summary: 

MKAC is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Clinical Coordinator to provide clinical leadership and support to our Mental Health teams. This role is crucial in engaging, assessing, screening, and coordinating services for Aboriginal community members accessing Aftercare services. This role will ensure clinical governance and maintain national standards for mental health services.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

Program Coordination:

  • Identify and establish appropriate clinical and cultural governance in line with the Perth South Network Suicide Prevention Plan.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clinical staff to integrate mental health services into overall patient care.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key sector stakeholders, including service providers and referral pathways for suicide prevention.
  • Establish and maintain a suicide prevention network comprising key stakeholders, community leaders, and both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led and whole-of-population suicide prevention services.
  • Undertake reports in line with contractual requirements

Leadership and Team Management:

Illustrate your strong leadership skills, highlighting instances where you have led, motivated, and managed a diverse team. Discuss specific strategies you have employed to promote cultural safety and holistic care within your team. Showcase your ability to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that aligns with Moorditj Koort's Vision.

The successful candidate must have the following essential certifications skills 

  • Current AHPRA registration 
  • Qualifications in a relevant field such as Mental Health, Clinical Psychology, Counselling
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Valid WA Driver’s license 
  • National Police Clearance no more than 3 months old 
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain.

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

  • Strong record management, data collection, and reporting capabilities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of community protocols and preferences, to work in ways that meet the expectations of local communities 
  • Experience working with First Nation people.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of person-centered care and trauma-informed practice.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to develop collaborative partnerships.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including Excel and ability to work with client information systems.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the principles of Equal Employment Opportunities, Work Health and Safety, and Quality Improvement principles
