We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Government Relations Specialist at our Perth CBD Office on a Full-Time permanent basis.
About this role
As the Senior Government Relations Specialist you will be required to promote Western Power's strategic interests by working directly with key stakeholders, particularly key government stakeholders. Manages an external issues management framework to provide reputational and external stakeholder analysis and advice to assist Western Power executives and other spokespeople engage with representatives of all levels of government and key stakeholders.
- Monitor research and evaluate energy industry issues at state, national and international levels, assess their likely impact on Western Power and provide advice to relevant internal stakeholder regarding these matters.
- Plan, promote, implement and evaluate strategic stakeholder engagement activities in a coordinated, positive and proactive fashion in the interests of protecting and promoting Western Power's corporate reputation and successes.
- Develop and maintain strong and strategic external and internal relationships/links to support the development and implementation of the external issues management framework and increase Western Power's visibility and collaboration with external bodies.
- Provide advice to Western Power teams regarding key external issues and stakeholder management, to build capacity, confidence and ability to represent Western Power's interests in their external facing activities and decision making.
- Appropriately represent Western Power's position on various issues with external stakeholders, facilitate relationships (particularly with community leaders, government stakeholders, Members of Parliament, advocacy bodies and regulators) in the interests of protecting and promoting Western Power's corporate reputation.
About you
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
- A tertiary qualification in public / social policy, politics, management or business-related discipline.
- Broad and extensive knowledge and expertise in managing external relations with individuals and organisations in similar businesses.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable effective interaction between key stakeholders.
- Experience working in State or Federal parliamentary, political systems and processes.
