The OpportunityThe Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Executive Level 1 Assistant Director, Visitor Engagement within Parliamentary Engagement Branch.
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is seeking a strategic, energetic, and experienced Assistant Director of Visitor Engagement to help lead the successful delivery of visitor services at Parliament House; build cooperation with diverse internal and external stakeholders; and deliver results in the context of a complex and changing environment.
The Assistant Director position will play a leadership role in enhancing Parliament House’s status as an iconic building and location of national significance to ensure that the public can experience the heart of Australian democracy. The role will focus on the delivery of key section strategic projects that seek to enhance engagement with the wider community.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in leading large and diverse teams and managing engagement projects to achieve quality outcomes in a customer-facing role. Effective and respectful collaboration is critical to the success of the position - both internally with stakeholders and externally with visitors, dignitaries, and national institutions.
Job Specific Requirements:
• Work flexible to support the operations of the team.
• Obtain and maintain a Working with Vulnerable People registration.
• The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

Immediate supervisor: Director, Visitor Engagement
Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Executive Level 1 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Work with the Director, Visitor Engagement, to lead the successful delivery of visitor engagement services at Parliament House.
2. Manage operational delivery for the section, including oversight of rostering, procurement, booking systems and concierge services.
3. Establish and maintain strategic and productive collaboration with internal stakeholders, Security, Property, Catering, Human Resources, and IT sections, together with external stakeholders including the Department of the House of Representatives and the Department of the Senate.
4. Develop, and maintain section policies and procedures and ensure their timely compliance with Departmental frameworks and the goals of the Visitor Engagement team.
5. Support the Director in the leadership of the Visitor Engagement section, including developing capability, and managing performance, meeting health and safety obligations and training requirements.
6. Manage the delivery of tourism initiatives and projects for the branch.
7. Represent the Director, Visitor Engagement, as required, in a range of forums to ensure constructive collaboration and delivery of strategic goals.

Conditions of EmploymentEmployment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
• Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
• Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
• Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
