Capstones is proud to be working with a leading EPCM who are delivering one of australias lagest BESS project's in the NSW region.

We are looking for a talented BESS Design Engineer to enhance our clients Project Delivery Team. This role involves managing the design, commissioning, and technical support for large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). In this exciting role you’ll report to the Manager of Project Delivery.

What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare Documents: Create and organize technical project documents.
  • Ensure Compliance: Uphold engineering standards and design guidelines.
  • Vendor Interaction: Coordinate with vendors to finalize product specifications.
  • Design Components: Select system parts, calculate specifications, and draft material lists.
  • Review Plans: Assess electrical plans and provide timely feedback.
  • Site Inspections: Perform site visits to identify potential risks.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Hold a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power Engineering, or relevant experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 2- 5years in renewable energy, particularly in Energy Storage Systems.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in ETAP / Powerfactory, and skilled in load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and AC/DC cable loss calculations.

Key Skills:

  • Battery Tech: Expertise in lithium-ion battery systems.
  • Standards Knowledge: Familiar with ESS and inverter standards (AS3000, NEC, IBC, IFC, NFPA, UL, IEC).
  • Communication: Excellent writing and speaking skills.
  • CAD Proficiency: Experienced in CAD software.
  • Project Background: Experience with utility-scale energy storage and renewable projects.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Strong understanding of inverters, converters, transformers, batteries, circuit breakers, and fuses.
  • Electrical Knowledge: Deep understanding of voltage, current, power, energy, AC/DC voltage, and single/three-phase power.
  • Drawing Skills: Able to read and interpret electrical control diagrams.
  • Instrumentation Expertise: Familiar with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power quality analysis.
  • Systems Experience: Skilled in PLCs, industrial electronics, and SCADA systems.
