Who we are 
In partnership with internal and external stakeholders, Compliance & Enforcement Division monitor and assess risk to enhance compliance through effective regulatory intervention, ranging from education to enforcement which will ultimately safeguard our economy, trade, environment, and agriculture.

The Audit and Assurance Branch (AAB) is responsible for the delivery of regulatory audits and other assurance activities to manage biosecurity, imported food, export regulatory risks. AAB takes a whole of department view and has responsibility for functions related to targeted and planned risk based regulatory audits, planned and responsive assurance and control testing activities, and illegal logging assessments. AAB plays a crucial role in the development and implementation of the department’s assurance processes, providing confidence that departmental regulatory systems and controls points are managing risks. AAB have approximately 80 staff – auditors, technical experts’, operational managers and business services. We operate as a national team with staff located in departmental offices in major capital cities and regional centres.

Our professional auditor workforce conducts nationally integrated regulatory audits and other assurance activities to manage the compliance of import and export registered establishments, industry Authorised Officers and entities operating under Approved Arrangements. 

We conduct audits of: 
• Biosecurity approved arrangements. 
• Plant export property accreditations.
• Plant export registered establishment audits. 
• Plant Authorised Officer verifications. 
• Fish, eggs, and dairy export registered establishments. 
• Meat processing export registered establishments. 
• Live animal export approved arrangements and accredited properties.

The Jobs
The Compliance and Enforcement division is seeking to fill several auditor positions at the APS 5 level. The Auditor role undertakes audits across commodities and functions against the relevant criteria, to build strong industry compliance. The role will work within the parameters of the Auditor Management Framework with the possibility of overseas, interstate, or intrastate travel. All audit competencies and other training requirements will need to be maintained.

Please note this recruitment process will be used to fill multiple on-going positions available across all listed locations. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the division where the duties are of a similar nature.

What we are looking for
Knowledge and experience
• Knowledge related to import and/or exports or agricultural industries.

Mandatory qualifications
The successful candidates will need to obtain a Lead Food Safety or Lead Quality Auditor qualification within the 6-month probationary period. This course is provided by the employer as part of induction. If you have current Food Safety or Lead Auditor qualifications, please include in your application.
