Liontown Resources (ASX: LTR) is an ASX listed company with a focus on battery minerals. We control two major lithium deposits in Western Australia and have ambition to grow our portfolio through downstream expansion and exploration acquisitions.

Our Kathleen Valley Lithium Project in Western Australia is a Tier 1 battery metals asset with excellent grade and scale. It is one of the largest and highest-grade hard rock lithium deposits in the world and is at the forefront of our vision to support the world's transition to a low-carbon future. It is one of the few lithium projects globally in construction today with first production on track for mid-2024.

About the role

Liontown Resources is seeking applications for a seasoned Senior Mine Backfill Engineer to lead and oversee our backfilling process at our Kathleen Valley lithium operation. This critical role involves designing and implementing efficient and sustainable backfill systems, optimising operations, and ensuring safety. This will be a site based permanent opportunity working a 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth and staying in our newly built dragon fly village.

Reporting to the Mine Backfill Superintendent, the Senior Mine Backfill Engineer will be responsible for;

  • Backfill System Design: Develop and optimise mine backfill systems, integrating geological, geotechnical, and environmental considerations.
  • Material Selection and Testing: Select appropriate backfill materials and conduct tests to meet engineering specifications and compatibility with underground methods.
  • Technical Oversight: Oversee the installation and operation of backfill systems, monitor performance, and implement improvements.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments, implement mitigation measures, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with mine operations, geology, and engineering teams to align backfilling strategies and address operational challenges.

About you

  • Minimum of 8 years in mine engineering roles, focusing on mine backfill.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing backfill systems in underground mining operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of mine backfill engineering principles and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Have obtained a National Police Clearance within the last 6 months or have the ability to obtain one.
  • Able to pass a Pre-Employment medical and Drug and Alcohol screen.
