29Metals is an ASX listed, copper focused base and precious metals mining company with a portfolio of long-life producing assets and a pipeline of organic growth opportunities. The company has two producing assets: Golden Grove in Western Australia and Capricorn Copper in Queensland and a strategic tenement package and project in Redhill, Chile.
Our Golden Grove mine is located just a short 1-hour flight from Perth or Geraldton. With a 10 year mine life, our high-grade resource is supported by modern infrastructure providing a platform for future growth.
We are currently seeking a Senior Backfill Engineer to join our Golden Grove team. This is a great opportunity to join a friendly and experienced team. This is a permanent position, offered on an 8/6 roster FIFO from either Perth or Geraldton.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring data relevant to backfill requirements and design is routinely collected and analysed and reported to line management;
- Developing a Trigger Action Response Plan in the event of tailings material needing to be reclaimed from the tailings dam that may not conform to the designed particle size distribution (PSD);
- Producing schedules on predicted consumption of all paste and CHF reticulation infrastructure elements (Binder, tailings, water, pipes, and pipe supports etc);
- Producing CHF and paste fill plans that include rheology, recipe design, reticulation loop, inspections, barricades, and QA/QC requirements for each stope;
- Providing guidance to the paste and CHF plant operators (Slump, sample preparation and curing, UCS, moisture content, PSD) and ensure that the data produced is of a high standard;
- Performing reconciliations of completed stopes and produce reports on the variations between planned and actuals as well as any key learnings.
What we are looking for:
- Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineering;
- 2+yrs' relevant experience in mining engineering;
- 3+yrs' relevant experience in Paste Backfill;
- Experience with mine design and mine scheduling tools, e.g. MineCad, Surpac, Deswik;
- Advanced skills in spreadsheet and presentation applications, word processing and database applications;
- Sound and systematic technical instructions that will contribute to efficient paste filling operations;
- Dangerous Goods Security Clearance.
