Senior Business Analyst

Our client, a large QLD Government Department, is seeking to engage an experienced Senior Business Analyst to assist in resolving current business problems with the help of technology and making recommendations on the technology solutions including the use of technology architecture, tools, or software applications.
About the Role
The role of Business Analyst is to support our clients through analysis of their business requirements and implement IT solutions which address business needs. This will include analysing, transforming and ultimately resolving the business problems with the help of technology and making recommendations on the technology solutions including the use of technology architecture, tools, or software application.

- Business Analyst experience in an IT environment with strong skills in the development of requirements and specifications according to standards;

- Analytical thinking and problem solving
- Sound written communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex system and process concepts and creativity in communication;
- Ability to cultivate productive working relationships and communicate with influence;
- Facilitation and elicitation skills to lead business in definition of desired outcomes and business processes and requirements;
- Ability to work both individually with minimum supervision and also within a team environment;
- Understanding of broader business issues, structures and operations;
- Understanding of governance frameworks;
- Knowledge of software development life cycle;
- Knowledge of risk management frameworks and experience in applying to an ICT environment;
- Experience in an ICT operational environment
Qualifications, professional registration, conditions and other requirements
- Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications for this position, possession of a tertiary qualification in information and communication technology or related disciplines would be desirable.

· Liaise with stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies and operations of QCS and recommend technology solutions that assist in achieving agency outcomes
· Quickly understand relationships with business and technical staff on the requirements that inform ICT solution design.
· Negotiate effectively with customers to identify needs and business solutions.
· Facilitate workshops to clarify and negotiate business outcomes.
· Liaise with staff within the division, across agency and inter-agency
· Establish and maintain collaborative networks with business and other stakeholders
· Respond to changes in customer needs and expectations.

· Identify and document business functions and processes.
· Develop, investigate, analyse, validate and review business functions.
· Analyse and identify business process changes that drive efficiency and effectiveness.
· Contribute to evaluating factors that form part of business change requirements.

Create the framework for evaluation of the business requirement topics
Identification of possible business requirements
Analysis of requirements for viability given current maturity, funding, etc

· Document requirements within a standard format or requirements management tool/s.
· Work with business clients to identify potential solutions, conduct feasibility studies and business cases to justify an investment in change
· Provide estimates of requirement development to contribute to successful planning of the Program of Work
· Elicit and document business requirements using a variety of business analysis techniques.
· Interpret business needs and translate those into functional and non-functional requirements and software specifications where necessary.
Write the business requirements and outline the high-level rules and caveats.
Include estimates of effort for DSIT to interface the individual requirements.
Map requirements to benefits.
Business requirements documentation
· Ensure stakeholders understand available ICT services and promote financial awareness with a view to delivering value for money.
· Utilise broad ICT knowledge and knowledge of the business to identify effective technology solutions that address business needs.
· Provide business support to technical staff in development of urgent technical solutions.
· Work with technical staff and act as a conduit between business customers and technical staff to define /refine requirements and develop solutions.
Identify and map the interface points for all DSIT systems for all business requirements.
System Requirements documentation and effort
· Ensure timely and appropriate responses to system issues reported by staff
· Contribute to the identification and mitigation of risks as they arise.
Input into the project risk and issues logs with any items raised.
Input to Project and Program logs and risk management processes.
Further details:
8 Hours/day - 40 Hour working week.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal History Check.
