The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Workplace Health, Safety & Wellbeing, this role will be responsible for work health and safety, wellbeing and injury prevention and management across all TAFE SA campuses and workgroups. You will be responsible for providing specialist consultancy services, expertise, advice and support which contributes to the strategic objectives of TAFE SA. This role will significantly influence the practical application of WHS, Return to Work Acts, Regulations, & Code of Practices to prevent, and manage any injury.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, manage and lead strategic WHS programs and initiatives to mitigate WHS or wellbeing risks to ensure an integrated, continuously improved, legislative compliant WHS Management System.
  • Identify, analyse and report on WHS trends and specific risks relating to the achievement of strategic WHS objectives.
  • Manage hazard, incident and injury processes to ensure accurate investigation, corrective actions and close out within strict timeframes.
  • Maintain up to date understanding and knowledge of WHS methodologies, legislative requirements, and industry trends.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of the WHS&IM management system including un undertaking internal audits.
  • Maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What We're Looking For:

  • Cert IV or higher in Workplace Health and Safety with 2 years operational WHS experience - Highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Extensive understanding & knowledge in the interpretation and implementation of WHS legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Proven experience in conducting WHS investigations, executing projects and evaluating safety data.

Special Conditions:

The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at the Department of Human Services (DHS).
