- Permanent full time
- 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday @ 7.6 hours per day

As part of the Safeguarding Team, you will assist to embed the Child Safe Standards and Big Fat Smile Child Safe framework to further strengthen and maintain our organisations child safe culture. This encompasses but is not limited to implementation of policies and procedures, case management, and building capacity. A key aspect of this role is working directly with Centre Directors to coach them in their safeguarding role and build educators capacity in relation to child safety and wellbeing.

What your work will involve
- We understand that the safety and wellbeing of all children is paramount, you will aim to provide environments where all children feel safe and are safe though upholding the NSW Child safe Standards.
- Managing incidents relating to allegations or suspicions of child abuse, neglect and/or harm at an organisational level with oversight from Head of Safeguarding
- Provide accurate and prompt specialist support to staff, children, and families to ensure child focused incident management within an education context.
- Work with staff who have existing strong relationships with children to build their competency in supporting children and families that have been the subject child safety or child wellbeing concerns.
- Build the knowledge and capacity of staff to prevent, identify and mitigate risks for any allegations or suspicions of child abuse, neglect and harm using the reporting framework.
- Coach colleagues to build respectful relationships with children and build the capacity of all Program staff in child development and wellbeing through supporting a trauma- informed view of child development in reflective practice spaces.
- Provide case management and specialist support for incidents in relation allegations or suspicions of child abuse, neglect and/or harm that has occurred or is occurring to a child whilst in our care, or external to the organisation.
What you need to succeed
- A relevant Tertiary qualification from an accredited Australian Tertiary Institution - Diploma or above.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children and families in one of the following – early childhood, child related social work, family support or case work.
- A demonstrated awareness of and commitment to maintaining a child safe organisational culture and familiarity with the Child Safe Organisation principles.
- A clear understanding of issues pertaining to child safety, children at risk and mandatory reporting responsibilities and Code of Conduct Principles.
- An understanding of the NSW Child Protection Guidelines and child protection legislation.
- Knowledge and or experience working with the National Quality Framework and within the Early Years Learning Framework
- Maintain timely records keeping.
- An understanding of pedagogical practices that are underpinned the following; a trauma informed lens, attachment- based theory, strengths- based, inclusive and relationship focussed practices.
- Experience in providing advice and guidance on child safety and child safeguarding matters.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Cleared Valid, paid work, working with Children's Check (WWCC)
