Senior Technical Advisor - Electrical & Instrumentation Who are we?

The role

We're looking to add a Senior Technical Advisor - Electrical & Instrumentation to our Asset Integration team. Asset Integration is a multi-faceted team, with a purpose to collaborate with cross divisional stakeholders to provide technical and operational advice during the planning, design, construction, commissioning, and handover phases of new water, recycled water and sewer network assets.

This role is responsible for overseeing the commissioning and handover of end-to-end process for electrical plant and equipment. The Senior Technical Advisor will be required to provide advice and technical support during the integrated planning, detailed design, construction, and commissioning phases to assist the project teams with the integration of critical assets into new or existing networks. Provision of post-implementation feedback and operational performance will also be essential to allow for enhancement and improvement opportunities. In addition, despite the role’s primary focus and responsibility is the electrical and instrumentation element, civil and mechanical aspects will also feature significantly.

Who are you?

You're an Electrical Engineer, or hold a Trade or Tertiary Qualification in Instrumentation, Control and Automation with at least 7 years' post apprenticeship trade experience as an industrial or commissioning engineer/technician or electrician.

It is essential that you hold an electrical worker's license (A class), and you can demonstrate experience or skill in the following areas:

  • Extensive experience in commissioning / handover of plant, water, recycled and sewer assets and equipment
  • Demonstrated competency in operating and maintaining water, recycled water and sewerage networks
  • Extensive knowledge in QA Principles, AS/NZS Standards, Codes (WSAA), industry (MRWA) guidelines and applied practices
  • Extensive knowledge of current electrical standards
  • Relevant experience and technical understanding of the water industry asset life cycle i.e., planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance
  • Intermediate knowledge of mechanical and civil principals and strong electrical design knowledge
  • Highly developed strategic and analytical skills 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to aid building and maintaining collaborative relationships with key stakeholders
  • The ability to interpret electrical schematic drawings discuss and relay complex technical issues to other parties
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
  • Familiar with various instrumentation and communication protocols used within the water industry (Hart, Rs232, Rs485, Siemens, Broderson, Kingfisher) - advantageous
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems - advantageous
  • Qualification or previous experience in project management - advantageous
