About Inland Rail
Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation project that will complete the backbone of Australia's freight rail network. It will enhance supply chains by providing a transit time of 24 hours or less for freight trains between Melbourne and Brisbane. Inland Rail will connect regional Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland to markets more efficiently, drive substantial cost savings for producers and consumers, and deliver significant economic benefits. Inland Rail is the largest freight rail infrastructure project in Australia and one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the world.
About the opportunity
As the Portfolio Reporting Manager, you will drive the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of reporting systems, tools, and documents for the Inland Rail Delivery Team's Project and Portfolio suite. Oversee, support, and facilitate monthly projects, leading the creation of project portfolio reports and quarterly project reporting for the Delivery Leadership Team, Inland Rail Executive Leadership Team, and Board as needed.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Develop monthly portfolio reporting suite for Inland Rail Delivery Leadership Team.
- Coordinate Project and Portfolio reporting for the Delivery Team that can be used for multiple audiences including internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement and maintain automation of data capture to routinely populate project and portfolio reporting by supporting/driving development of the system used to capture required data and information for the production of Delivery Team reports.
- Use data analytics to improve performance through the identification of risks, issues, and insights to support effective business decision making within the Inland Rail Delivery Leadership Team and at Executive/Board Level.
- Work closely with all the Project Directors and Project Controls Managers to prepare the key insights and strategies to ensure the portfolio of projects are delivered on time and to budget, and to challenge the performance of the projects.
- Lead and coordinate continuous improvement activities for reporting to provide business intelligence in decision making, to ensure projects are on track to meet the agreed performance targets.
- Lead the management of the Delivery Team reporting data to ensure the integrity and currency of data to allow accurate insights for business decision making.
- Providing key insights on portfolio dashboard reports to highlight key issues and opportunities in advance for the Inland Rail Delivery Leadership Team
About You
The incumbent will need to be someone who has the ability to collect and interpret key project data, have meticulous attention to detail, be IT savvy with Power BI dashboard reporting and project reporting systems and have the art of negotiation while fostering collaborative working relationships.
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
- Degree in Engineering, Science, Software, Finance, Commerce or other disciplines relevant to business intelligence and reporting.
- Experience working in PMOs/and or major projects, programs, or portfolios.
- Extensive knowledge in business reporting on major construction projects.
- Experience in developing a Reporting Framework including systems, tools, and reports.
- Extensive experience in change management.
- Knowledge in continuous improvement.
- Experience working with systems and process change.
- Experience in managing complex, multi-disciplinary stakeholder groups.
- Business Analytics experience across portfolio of infrastructure projects.
- The ability to develop, implement, and manage business reporting systems and processes.
