  • For over 175 years, the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria (RBGV) has connected people with nature, through both its heritagelisted landscape in the heart of Melbourne and its contemporary native garden in Cranbourne. These sites are home to extraordinary landscapes, innovative public programming, and world leading plant science and conservation research. RBGV is the custodian of the $340 million State Botanical Collection and has won 'Best Major Tourist Attraction' for the third time in a row, joining the Victorian Tourism Industry Council Hall of Fame._


As Chief Executive, you will partner with a highly engaged Board and Executive Team to lead, inspire and drive the RBGV's mission, with primary responsibility for maintaining a progressive and positive reputation and ensuring its gardens continue to provide many benefits for the community.

To be considered for this position, you will be:

  • A transformational executive leader, with a proven ability to drive outcomes in a multifaceted organisation, ideally within the public sector.
  • Highly regarded for your ability to engage with and influence a broad range of stakeholders to advocate and enhance the reputation of an organisation, you will bring commercial acumen and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • A natural relationship builder, who can heighten awareness of the RBGV through the engagement of government & philanthropic stakeholders, First Nations Peoples, tourism operators, community organisations, scientific community, and the international botanic gardens network.
This position is located in Melbourne, Victoria and is offered for a period of up to five years.
